Oncidium papilio on its second blossom. This a species. This is how it actually looks in the wild--untampered by the hands of man. The flower spurns an antagonistic response from insects which deem it as another insect. The insect would attack the flower and the flower would get pollinated in the fray. Cool, eh?
Neofinitia falcata -- first time I have EVER seen one in bloom, let alone be successful at it. Native to Japan, it has a long spur in the back of its bloom and highly prized.The orchids are starting to bud as well. I guess they all love their spots.
Saturday was of course ballet class at Lines Ballet and then met up with Cin and Steve at the Crossroads cafe in the SOMA (South of Market St) district.
Cin and Steve :) They are expecting a bundle of joy come January so we are all pretty excited. She is just glowing!
The cafe was Cindy's idea and it was a great choice as we had more than enough food! Let me remember....ahi tuna salad, assortment of tea sandwiches, grilled chicken sandwich...mmmm.
Sunday we attended mass at Notre Dame des Victoires to see Fr. Dennis. Afterwards we sauntered over the next block to Chinatown (amazing city this is) where the Harvest Moon festival was afoot. I was entranced by these kids playing.
Needless to say the town was bustling with tourists.

We then traipse to the Boulange shop for some open-faced sandwiches and cocoa :)We then trekked it all the way back home...
Some of you may be familiar with my cooking but this is a glorious pot of my curried lentils with kale, carrots, tofu, and a dollop of yummy peanut butter. Come on over!
