Joffrey does Twyla
Beb, the great planner that she is, got us season tickets to Zellerbach for three performances of three great ballet companies doing tributes to famous modern dancer/choreographer, Twyla Tharp.
I worked from home and sped to Berkeley to meet Beb at the BART station. So natch, where do we eat? So we ducked into this Southern/Soul food cuisine restaurant called Angeline's near where I parked. It was a very pleasant surprise and very good.

The Joffrey was astounding. They surely delivered with much grace and bravura. I liked it very much. It came in three parts. First part was purely classical ballet right out of a classical portrait with a showdown between three ladies to one man. 2nd part was the Twyla Tharp piece especially choreographed for the Joffrey. It was to the Beach Boy's music! With the backdrop of graffiti (originally Twyla had live graffiti artists), and the zany teeny bopper dancers, it was classic Twyla. Third part was to Prince's music which he specifically created for Joffrey. It was high-energy and such a crowd pleaser.
We can't wait for the next installment.
