Move it, May!

May in Review:

Our nieces were performing with their Halau (Hula School) in Cupertino so we sped down to have a spot in the sun and enjoy the show.

Along with tickets came a Hawaiian meal of roasted pork, rice, coleslaw, etec as well as a beautiful night of hula. The girls and their dad (who danced!) were astounding.

We zip to another day with C&S&E at the Ferry building to catch up with our lovey-dovey Esalen. I got some time with her in her stroller as we made our way through all the farmer's market's hubbub.

Zipping over to another weekend spent with Evelyn and her friends from Berkeley. A beautiful day at the park with tons of food and great conversations.

Zip forward to another weekend, this time Fr. Dennis and Anne were driving us down to SC via Highway one to check out their usual haunts which ,for the life of us, have failed to visit.

In Pescadero, we had to drop by the General Store.

The shop has everything and it was very cool. They had a huge wooden bar, a woodburning stove, a mini-library of sorts, there was a musician playing that day, sundries, gifts, food, and costumes! Fun store and highly recommended as a stopover between SF and SC on 1.
I should go back for the Lawrence of Arabia headdress :)

We then had lunch at Duarte's which apparently is a local landmark for their clam chowder and ollalieberry pie. Yum. Then driving down 1, Beb was able to capture a very cool shot of kitesurfers -- so many that their kites resembled birds!

We then visited Villa Maria del Mar where we were married by Fr. Dennis and Anne was our photographer and florist! We visited Sr. Joanne (who was our DJ) who is the head of the villa across from the chapel and glad to see that she is doing very well and busy with all the retreats. It was wonderful to be back there as there were lots of memories to share. Ah.
We then headed up to UCSC for the real reason why were driving down to SC. This was the last Newman mass. The Marists were moving out of the community and we were celebrating their last mass at the university. It was incredible to see the entire Newman community, both students and graduates, there one last time. Fr. Roland presided.
